We continue our journey into the world of OF outdoor kitchens finishes. After having focused on corten steel, delabré steel and vintage style aged steel, today in our blog we want to talk about natural stainless steel, that we consider the mother (or father) of all finishes. To this we can also add the touch of materials such as Dekton and Laminam for worktops and doors, for real choices of character. Let’s see all the details.
Natural stainless steel: the king of finishes when it comes to outdoor kitchens
This type of steel is presented in its purest essence, with extraordinary properties in terms of resistance, so much so that it is also used in the nautical field. At OF we deal with both versions of this material on the market: 304 and 316 (the so-called “marine steel”). The latter is particularly resistant to weathering and certain environmental conditions (wind, UV rays, salt, sea water, sand, etc.). 316 steel is durable, easy to fabricate, clean, weld and finish. It is considerably more resistant to solutions of sulphuric acid, chlorides, bromides, iodides and fatty acids at high temperatures. A curiosity that maybe you did not know: stainless steel containing molybdenum, such as this, are for example necessary in the production of certain pharmaceutical products to avoid excessive metal contamination. The conclusion is that 316 stainless steel costs a little more, but it will save you a lot of money over time, when the years pass and your outdoor kitchen remains beautiful and intact.
Natural steel cleaning
The cleaning and maintenance of natural steel, both in the 304 and 316 versions, is very simple and fast. All you need is a damp cloth, a neutral or natural-based detergent and nothing else: everything is absolutely manageable and compatible with any need for time and commitments.
Dekton or Laminam worktops: a perfect combination for beauty and design
The main pieces of an outdoor kitchen made of steel can be complemented with Dekton or Laminam worktops. This will give a very beautiful aesthetic effect to your kitchen and is, on the other hand, a choice that will be durable over time. Let’s see why. The ideal worktops for an outdoor kitchen must have certain features: they must be resistant to shocks, scratches, and stresses present in outdoor environments. At OF we offer different types of worktops to be combined with steel that have precisely these features:
- The first is the one in Pietra di Cardoso nero fiammato, which can be defined as trendy, fashionable, closely linked to the current trend for dark colours, even in outdoor kitchens.
- The second, also in Pietra di Cardoso, is insted in grigio fiammato, a texture that is also very current according to the latest trends seen in design.
- With the third finish we change, because we go decidedly into sunny colours, more summery, and linked to nature. This is Zenith Bianco, elegant and absolutely suitable for homes in seaside resorts.
- Finally, the fourth stone is well worked, and not polished but opaque: Edora. Particularly suitable for outdoor use, it is very often offered in a beige finish, an extremely natural colour.
On our website you can still find all the options for a steel and modular outdoor kitchen. There are solutions for every need and available space: terrace, patio, garden or small veranda.
